Terms of Service

Effective: January 15, 2026
Version: 2.1
Plain-English summary
Use College Signal to inform your family's college strategy. Don't use it to cheat, harass, or scrape. Our reports are professional guidance, not a guarantee. If something goes wrong, our liability is capped at what you paid us.
§ 01

Agreement to these Terms

By creating an account or purchasing a report, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you're purchasing on behalf of a student under 18, you represent that you are their parent or legal guardian and consent on their behalf.

These Terms form a legally binding agreement between you and College Signal, Inc., a Delaware corporation ("College Signal," "we," "us").

§ 02

What the service is

College Signal produces data-driven strategic reports on an individual student's college admissions profile. The report includes estimated acceptance probabilities, strengths and concerns, test and coursework strategy, activity assessment, and a month-by-month plan.

Important: probabilities are statistical estimates based on historical outcomes for profiles similar to your student's. They are not predictions, promises, or guarantees of admission. Every admissions decision involves institutional factors outside any applicant's control.
§ 03

Acceptable use

You agree to use College Signal only for its intended purpose. You will not:

  • Submit profile information for any individual other than yourself or a student you are legally permitted to represent
  • Fabricate, inflate, or misrepresent academic records or activities
  • Use the report to deceive an admissions office (e.g., as a ghostwritten essay)
  • Scrape, reverse-engineer, or attempt to extract the underlying model or training data
  • Resell, relicense, or commercially redistribute reports without a written Pro/Enterprise agreement
  • Interfere with the service, probe for vulnerabilities, or abuse support channels

Ghostwriting is not an acceptable use. Our narrative section provides feedback on drafts you have written. Submitting a report-generated essay as your own work to a university misrepresents authorship and we will cooperate with any university investigation.

§ 04

Payments and refunds

A standard Student Report is $249, billed at checkout. Prices for Pro (advisor) and Enterprise (school) plans are quoted individually and documented in a separate Order Form.

We offer a full refund within 7 days of report delivery if you are not satisfied with the output, no questions asked. After 7 days, reports are non-refundable but may be regenerated once per cycle if significant new information becomes available.

Payment processing is handled by Stripe. Disputed charges will be reviewed individually; we do not tolerate chargeback abuse and reserve the right to revoke access to the service for repeat offenders.

§ 05

Intellectual property

You own your student's profile data. College Signal owns the model, the report template, and all software. We grant you a perpetual, non-exclusive license to use your report for any personal, non-commercial purpose, including sharing with counselors and teachers.

You may not redistribute reports publicly (e.g., post them to the internet) or use them to develop a competing service.

§ 06

Warranties and disclaimers

The service is provided "as is." We make no guarantee of admission, no guarantee of scholarship offers, and no guarantee that any specific action recommended by the report will produce a specific outcome. Admissions decisions are made by admissions offices, not by us.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

§ 07

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, College Signal's aggregate liability for any claim arising out of these Terms or the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.

In no event are we liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost opportunities for admission — even if we were advised of the possibility.

§ 08

Termination

You may terminate your account at any time from your Dashboard or by emailing support@collegesignal.ai. We may terminate or suspend accounts that violate these Terms, with notice where practicable.

On termination, your data is purged per Section 5 of the Privacy Policy.

§ 09

Disputes & governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts sitting in Middlesex County, Massachusetts.

We attempt to resolve complaints informally first. Email legal@collegesignal.ai with the nature of your complaint before initiating any formal action; we commit to a substantive response within 30 days.

§ 10

Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes are posted at least 30 days before they take effect, and we email anyone with an active account. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

This document is authored by College Signal, Inc., a Delaware corporation. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remainder stays in effect. We'll post material changes at least 30 days before they take effect and email anyone with an active account.
